Ruth Shaw's Designer Fashion Brands - Baltimore City, MD
The story starts with a shirt, and then the story evolves with star names from Emmanuelle
Kahn to Sarah Moon.
Everything starts in 1958, when Jean Bousquet, born in Nimes and taylor degreed,
decides to come to Paris to create a business of pants for Women at the 6th floor of a
Hausmannian building.
4 years later, on March 16th of 1962, he named the brand « Jean Cacharel », on
November 8th of 1963 he made his first Elle cover. His first success is a « Crepon Shirt »
shot by Peter Knapp, immediately called « the cacharel »
Fifty years later, Cacharel is an iconic brand in the ready to wear industry. Freshness,
romanticism, freedom and avant-garde describe Cacharel. The brand continues to create
the style of a strong woman who likes to play with fashion codes without being influenced.
The Spring Summer 2010 collection assumes a new romanticism.
Precise cuts, balanced backs are the collection motto.
The prints are instant shots of gardens created by painters.
Jean BOUSQUET was born in Nîmes on 30th March 1932. He is the founder and
Chairman and Managing Director of SA JEAN CACHAREL.
He pursued his studies at the technical college in Nîmes, from which he emerged with a
tailoring qualification.
He then worked as a stylist for 2 years, before deciding to "go up" to Paris.
He designed his first creations in a tiny studio.
The resounding success of his very first collection prompted him to found the small
company "CACHAREL", named after a bird of the Camargue.
Then the situation developed apace. The famous "boom" of the seersucker shirt, featured
on the cover of Elle magazine introduced Cacharel into store windows all over the world.
Having launched his first Menswear, Womenswear and Childrenswear collection, and
having been awarded the Oscar for exports in 1969, he went on to diversify his activities
by branching out into perfumery (Anaïs Anaïs still being one of the world's best-selling
fragrances) and other products, which he has.
